Edition of 50
a note from the artist
This photo was taken in the midst of some pre-dorian heat storms. Whilst everyone was scrambling for gas and supplies, I was taking my time, waiting for what mother nature would flash in front of my lens.
I had only just relocated to Big Pine and my family was toying with the thought of evacuating. I remember Irma as a big stepping stone for a lot of people to finally move away from the Keys, and I thought Dorian welcoming me home was quite humorous. I captured a series of exposures, and it seemed that every time the shutter closed, I'd get flashed by some outrageous lightning! I couldn't seem to get the timing right. I thought I had missed my opportunity after the storm died down, but when I looked over the photos later that night, this one was just there. Shockingly.
